Anishnabe Alliance

The Four Pillars of Anishnabe Alliance

Guiding our work in economic development, housing, education, and well-being.

Anishnabe Alliance is built on action and accountability. We exist to support our people, strengthen our communities, and move forward with purpose.

Our work is guided by four pillars. Each one reflects a real need in our communities and a long-term commitment to create practical solutions, lasting opportunities, and stronger futures for the next generations.

The Four Pillars

1. Economic Development

Creating wealth to support our mission.

Economic development helps build independence. It creates jobs, supports families, and allows communities to invest in their own future.

Anishnabe Alliance supports Indigenous economic development by launching projects and investing in initiatives that generate real benefits for Anishnabe individuals, entrepreneurs, and the community as a whole.

Our priorities include:

  • Initiating and developing projects with strong economic value, particularly in construction, renewable energy, and cultural tourism;
  • Investing in Indigenous-owned businesses and social enterprises;
  • Building job training opportunities rooted in cultural knowledge and modern skills;
  • Promoting land stewardship and food sovereignty initiatives;
  • Launching community-driven projects such as fishery farms, solar energy initiatives, and other land-based enterprises;
  • Ensuring all projects create direct benefits through employment, revenue-sharing, and long-term sustainability.
The Four Pillars

2. Education & Training

No autonomy without education.

Education is one of the strongest tools we have for creating change. It builds confidence, strengthens identity, and opens doors to opportunity.

We are committed to supporting Indigenous education and training through programs that are culturally relevant, practical, and connected to real pathways into employment and leadership.

Our priorities include:

  • Developing Indigenous-led curriculum and land-based learning programs;
  • Creating a one-stop shop for hiring Indigenous resources;
  • Partnering with schools, universities, and cultural institutions to amplify First Nations voices;
  • Offering mentorship, leadership development, and vocational training for youth and adults;
  • Creating pathways to employment through certification, apprenticeship, and skills development.
The Four Pillars

3. Housing

For affordable and decent housing.

Safe housing is about more than a roof. It creates stability. It supports wellness. It helps families thrive.

Anishnabe Alliance advocates for affordable Indigenous housing solutions that respect community needs and support long-term dignity for Indigenous families and elders.

Our priorities include:

  • Advocating for housing policies that prioritize Indigenous families and elders;
  • Supporting community-owned housing cooperatives and transitional housing models;
  • Integrating traditional design principles and sustainability into housing projects.
The Four Pillars

4. Sports & Leisure

Digitally disconnected youth through sport and making leisure accessible to all.

Sport and recreation bring people together. They create confidence, build discipline, and support mental and physical wellness, especially for youth.

We believe leisure should be accessible to everyone, and that cultural connection can be strengthened through both traditional and modern activities. This pillar supports Indigenous youth programs, community wellness, and leadership through sport.

Our priorities include:

  • Collaborating to create inclusive, culturally grounded recreation spaces for all generations;
  • Reviving traditional games such as lacrosse, snow snake, and canoe racing alongside modern sports;
  • Supporting youth leadership through coaching, mentorship, and development opportunities;
  • Celebrating Indigenous excellence through tournaments, powwows, and seasonal gatherings that include our elders.

Moving Forward Together

These four pillars represent the work we are committed to doing, not only today, but for the long term.

Through partnership, investment, and community-led solutions, Anishnabe Alliance is focused on building strong foundations that protect our future, strengthen our autonomy, and create real opportunities for our people.
